Privacy policy

Draft for owner and legal review. Last updated: October 2026.

This policy explains what Las Vegas Reader ("we") collects and how we use it. Las Vegas Reader is operated by Webtopias, LLC 304 S. Jones Blvd Suite 1730 Las Vegas, NV 89107

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, display name, a securely hashed password (we can't read it), and an optional phone number.
• Listings: everything you post, including photos. We strip location (GPS) and camera data from photos when you upload them.
• Messages: when someone uses the message form on a listing, we record the sender's name, email, and message, and email it to the poster. Message text is erased after 30 days; a record that a message was sent remains.
• Reports you file about listings.
• Listing alerts: if you ask to be emailed about new listings, we save that search with your account. Every alert email has a one-click link to stop it, and you can remove alerts anytime in My account.
• Technical data: we store a one-way scrambled form of your IP address to prevent spam and abuse. We don't store raw IP addresses in our database. Our host keeps standard server logs.
• Cookies: one essential cookie keeps you signed in and protects forms from forgery. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and pages don't load anything from third-party servers.
• Visitor statistics: we count page visits with Matomo, which runs on our own server (stats.lasvegasreader.com). It sets no cookies, shortens your IP address before storing it, honors your browser's Do Not Track setting, and the data is never shared or sold.

How we use it

To run the site: show your listings, deliver messages, send account emails (confirmations, password resets, expiry reminders), prevent spam and fraud, and enforce the Posting Rules. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it except with service providers who host the site and deliver email, or when required by law.

What's public

Your listings, their photos, the area you chose, and your display name are public. Your email address is never shown. Your phone number is shown only on listings where you choose to show it.

Your choices

• Edit your profile and listings any time from your account.
• Delete your account from My account → Delete account. This immediately deletes your profile, all your listings and photos, saved listings, and pending email links. Reports you filed and messages you sent are kept without a link to your account so we can handle abuse. Backup copies are erased as backups rotate, within 30 days.
• Nevada residents may submit a request not to have their information sold. We don't sell personal information, but you can send any privacy request through our contact page.

Children

Las Vegas Reader is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Security

Passwords are hashed, the site uses HTTPS everywhere, and access to administrative tools is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; tell us right away if you suspect your account was misused.

Changes

We'll post updates here and change the date above.
